Anawalt, WV, is a community in the Pocahontas Coalfields of McDowell County 20 miles southeast of Welch, WV. The Anawalt Lake Wildlife Management Area, with a seven-acre pond, is located two miles southeast of Anawalt. The town was named in honor of Colonel Anawalt, manager of Union Supply Co., subsidiary of the United States Steel.
