The Anawalt Lake Wildlife Management Area (WMA) -- 1,792 acres -- is primarily a mixed hardwood forest with oak-hickory forest types on drier sites and yellow poplar and black cherry in coves. From Welch, follow WV Route 103 south to WV Route 161, then follow the latter and County Route 84 to Anawalt. From Anawalt, follow County Route 8 to the WMA. Several administrative roads and trails provide interior access for foot travel only. The area supports hunting opportunities for deer, bear, squirrel, turkey and ruffed grouse. A seven-acre pond supports a warmwater fishery and is stocked with trout from February through May. Camping is prohibited. Information provided by WVDNR
