In western Preston County, south of Reedsville, WV, on WV Route 92, Arthurdale became the site of the first federal Homestead project, the first New Deal Community in the United States, and was a model for projects in other areas of the country. The rural community is now a national historic district, and visitors are invited to tour its landmarks.
