Bayard, West Virginia

A community in Grant County, Bayard was incorporated in 1893 and named in honor of Thomas F. Bayard, later U.S. Senator from Delaware (1923-1929). Bayard stands along the North Branch of the Potomac River about three miles south of U.S. 50. The community's chief industry had historically been coal mining.
