A community in Monongalia County, Blacksville, WV, was originally incorporated in 1830 by act of the General Assembly of Virginia, being reincorporated in 1897. The town was named for its founder, David Black, who laid out the town in 1829. Blacksville is located on WV Route 7 ten-miles west of Morgantown, WV, on the north bank of Dunkard Creek near the West Virginia-Pennsylvania state line.
