Bluestone, West Virginia
Two railroad branch lines converged at the hamlet of Bluestone. Bluestone Junction was the location of the junction point of the Bluestone Branch of the Norfolk & Western Railway (N&W) with the N&W mainline. The Bluestone Branch was about 1 1/2 miles in length, extending in a southwestwardly manner to the vicinity of Pocahontas, Virginia. The Widemouth Branch extended downstream along the Bluestone River to Rock, WV, and from there the line traveled along the course of Widemouth Branch to Clarks Gap and Coopers, WV and was about 23 miles in length. Coopers Tunnel, just north of Bluestone, was built by the N&W in 1902.
