Briery Mountain Wildlife Management Area

Preston County: 3 m E of Kingwood, West Virginia
The Briery Mountain Wildlife Management Area -- 1,057 acres -- protects moderate-to-steep terrain ranging from 1,880 to 2,880 feet in elevation. The area is almost entirely forested with mixed hardwood species. Turkey, deer, squirrel and grouse are the principal game. Access is by Whetzell Settlement Road which intersects WV Route 7 approximately 1.5 miles east of Kingwood. No camping is permitted on the area. Owned by the WV Armory Board. A free annual hunting permit is required by the WV Armory Board (304-329-4417) in addition to standard hunting permits. Information provided by WVDNR.
