A community in Preston County, originally chartered in 1853, Bruceton Mills is located just off Interstate 77 (I-77). The community was named by John M. Hoffman, an early settler, for his stepfather, George Bruce, who is said to have been a lineal descendant of Robert Bruce, King of Scotland. Several mills there have been powered by the Big Sandy Creek, a tributary of Cheat River.
