Bunker Hill Historic District

From West Virginia (WV) Cyclopedia

In Berkeley County, 10-miles south of Martinsburg, WV, the Bunker Hill National Historic District preserves the fanciful Victorian homes of settlers of the mid 1800s. General Elisha Boyd, owner of Martinsburg's Boydville estate, established a village here in the 1820s with two mills, a brick plant, and a cooper's shop. Two original church buildings, damaged during the Civil War, stand today. The village is less than two miles from Interstate 81.
