Marshall County: 6 m S of Wheeling, West Virginia

The Burches Run Lake Wildlife Management Area -- 55 acres -- includes rolling hillsides covered primarily in mature oak-hickory forest. Deer, grouse, squirrel, and raccoon are the principal game ; though hunting is limited as a result of the area's small size. Burche's Run Lake, 16 acres, provides excellent fishing for trout, sunfish, channel catfish, and largemouth bass. Muskellunge and northern pike have been stocked. Area access is by County Route 14, which intersects WV Route 88 six-miles south of Wheeling. County routes 5 and 16 also access to the area. Overnight camping and open fires are not permitted. Toilet facilities are available. Information provided by WVDNR.
