The Burches Run Lake Wildlife Management Area -- 55 acres -- includes rolling hillsides covered primarily in mature oak-hickory forest. Deer, grouse, squirrel, and raccoon are the principal game ; though hunting is limited as a result of the area's small size. Area access is by County Route 14, which intersects WV Route 88 six-miles south of Wheeling. County routes 5 and 16 also access to the area. Overnight camping and open fires are not permitted.
