From West Virginia (WV) Cyclopedia
Waterfalls are as common in West Virginia as the hills through which they tumble. Some of the largest rivers in West Virginia, including the New, Kanawha, and Little Kanawha, plunge over waterfalls on their otherwise level courses. However, most waterfalls can be found on smaller streams throughout the state's eastern mountains where elevation changes are greatest. The following includes a list of only the best known falls.
