Charles Town Races & Slots, at Charles Town, WV, in Jefferson County, is a gaming center that features thoroughbred horse racing and more than 5,000 slot machines. Jefferson County residents in 2007 defeated a measure that would have allowed the track to expand as a casino. Track officials may petition the county to vote to expand the track again in 2009. Jefferson was the only one of four West Virginia counties that declined to permit table games in the 2007 vote.

Several dining facilities, including a food court and track-side restaurant, are located at the track. A 150-room hotel, The Inn at Charles Town, is scheduled to open in 2008.
