Chief Logan State Park (map (http://www.wvamaps.com/maps/index.php?place=Chief%20Logan%20State%20Park&state=WV&lon=-82.0131&lat=37.8992&pop=0&county=Logan&elev=0&scale=3)), in Logan County, north of Logan, WV, protects 4,000 acres in the heart of southern West Virginia's rugged coalfields. Chief Logan's amphitheatre is home to the outdoor drama "The Aracoma Story" in summer. Logan County tradition holds that a Shawnee "princess," Aracoma, moved to an island in the nearby Guyandotte River around 1760 with her European husband, Boling Baker.
