A community in Kanawha County, Clendenin, WV (map (http://www.wvamaps.com/index.php/?place=Clendenin&state=wv&lat=38.4886&lon=-81.3483&elev=629&pop=1116)) was incorporated in 1904 and named for the Clendenins, one of the early white pioneer citizens of the Kanawha Valley. The first petrochemical plant in the world was built at Clendenin, West Virginia by Union Carbide Corporation in 1920.
