Confidence, in northern Putnam County, is an unincorporated rural community, or hamlet, though formerly a small village. Confidence (map) (http://www.wvamaps.com/maps/index.php?place=Confidence&state=WV&pop=0&county=Putnam&lat=38.5725&lon=-81.8289&elev=939) is located along WV-34 between Red House, WV, on the lower Kanawha River, and Interstate 77 (I-77) near Kenna, WV. It is situated near the geographic center of Putnam County along the summit of a ridge dividing Beelick Run of Manila Creek, a tributary of the Pocatalico River, to the south, and Saltlick Creek, a tributary of Sigman Fork of Eighteenmile Creek, to the north. Confidence is a popular retirement community and is part of the Charleston, WV, market area. The Amherst/Plymouth Wildlife Management Area is located just south of Confidence.
