Cross Lanes is a suburb of Charleston and is connected to the latter city, the state capital, by way of Interstate 64 (I-64). As of the 2000 census, Cross Lanes population was 10,353. The Tri-State Racetrack & Gaming Center is located here. Country-music singer and songwriter Kathy Mattea grew up in Cross Lanes.
