Cup-and-Saucer Rocks

From West Virginia (WV) Cyclopedia

Near Winona, WV, in Fayette County, a remarkable sandstone formation here resembles two tea-cups and saucers. The formation is created by the weathering of part of the Nuttall Sandstone near the rim of the gorge of Keeney Creek, a tributary of the New River within the New River Gorge. Unlike similar formations in the region, the boulders, perched upon nearly circular slabs, have not be explored by rock climbers and boulderers.
