Darkesville Historic District

South of Martinsburg, WV, in Berkeley County, the Darkesville National Historic District preserves the center of this small agricultural village off Interstate 81. Darkesville was laid out in 1790. General Darke headquartered here during the revolution, while the community was known as Bucklestown.
