East Bank, West Virginia

From West Virginia (WV) Cyclopedia

A community in Kanawha County, East Bank, WV was incorporated in 1889. The town was so named because of its location just east of Coalburg, and the "bank" taken from an older term, "coal bank", referring an natural outcropping of coal from a hillside from which early settlers extracted coal. The community was formerly known as Hampton and Pryor.
