Fairfax Stone State Park

Fairfax Stone State Park (map (http://www.wvamaps.com/maps/index.php?place=Fairfax%20Stone%20State%20Park&state=WV&lon=-79.4872&lat=39.195&pop=0&county=Preston&elev=3120&scale=3)), in Tucker County, north of Thomas, West Virginia, marks the headspring of the North Branch of the Potomac River. Though no longer a part of the West Virginia State Park System, the stone and surrounding green is among the most important monuments in the Mountain State. A line running north from the stone to the Mason & Dixon Line marks the western boundary of Maryland.
