Grafton Downtown Commerical Historic District

In Grafton, WV, the Grafton Downtown Commercial Historic District includes significant Beaux Arts-style and early commercial architecture that reflects the influence of the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad. Grafton was among the important railroad towns along its route the across Appalachian Mountains.

The International Mother's Day Shrine, Saint Andrews Methodist Church, is located within the district. Anna Jarvis initiated the first Mother's Day service there in 1908. She is credited with helping to establish the national holiday in 1914.
