Grandview, West Virginia
Fiften miles northeast of Beckley, WV, in northeastern Raleigh County, Grandview is an unincorporated community that takes its name from spectacular views of the New River Gorge afforded by nearby cliffs. Grandview State Park, now the National Park Service's Grandview day-use area, a unit of the New River Gorge National River, is located in the northern reaches of the community.
Unlike many villages along the rim of the northern New River Gorge, Grandview was not associated with coal mining but with agriculture and timbering. The level plateaus that approach the rim of the gorge from the south provided space for large farms. The community of Grandview is located six miles north of Interstate 64 (I-64) exit 129 on Route 9.
