In southern Summers County, Harvey Falls is the uppermost fall or rapid in the Bluestone Lake section of the New River. A Class II rapid, the falls drops about five feet over a ten-yard exposure of aandstone. The area around the waterfall is a popular fishing area within the Bluestone Lake WMA. According to Wayne Harvey, president of the Summers County Historical Society, the falls take their name from Andrew Lewis Harvey. The grandson of Nicholas Harvey, who settled at Red Sulphur Springs, WV, in 1784, Andrew Lewis Harvey in 1848 was deeded 302 acres on the east side of the river above and below the falls. Bull Falls and Wiley Falls are also located on Bluestone Lake nearby.
