Hook 99 Rapids

From West Virginia (WV) Cyclopedia

Also known as "Harmon's 99 Rapids" or "Turtle Rock Rapids," this Class IV fall is located approximately one half mile downstream of Dudley's Dip Rapids and a tenth of a mile upstream of Greyhound Bus Stopper Rapids. The rapid was named after Richard Harman, one of the river's early rafters, lodged his boat, which was marked with the racing-number "99," beneath a rock at the rapid.
