Irish Mountain (Raleigh County)

Irish Mountain in eastern Raleigh County was named for Irish settlers who began farming its level crest in the 1850s. Saint Colman's Roman Catholic Church, a national historic site, is located on the verge of the mountain along the New River Gorge. Dillon, WV, is located on Irish Mountain. St. Colman Catholic Church, on Irish Mountain, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The mountain is one of at least two mountains in West Virginia named Irish Mountain.
