Junkyard Wall

From West Virginia (WV) Cyclopedia

Junkyard Wall is among the northernmost rock-climbing destinations in the New River Gorge. The wall extends northwest along the rim of the gorge from the Bridge Area toward Bubba City. It is aptly named: the cliff was once an open dump. Though practically cleared of debris, be watchful for lingering shards of glass and other sharp objects along the approaching trail. The cliffs at Junkyard Wall range in height from 35 to 60 feet. As are other cliffs long the northern gorge, the wall is an outcrop of Nuttall Sandstone.

Access: Junkyard Wall may best be reached from the parking area along Burma Road at Ames Heights, off the US-19 Ames Heights exit.
