Lower Railroad Rapids
Also known as Lower Trestle Rapids, this Class IV cataract on the Lower New River whitewater rafting segment is primarily created by an outcrop of the bedrock beneath the surface, similar to the conditions at Lower Keeney's and Greyhound Bus Stopper rapids. In such cases, the shallow bottom accelerates the river's flow, and outcrops of the bedrock are observable along the banks. The Lower Railroad Rapids are located one half-mile downstream of the Upper Railroad Rapids an less than a half mile upstream of Swimmers Rapids.
