Bailey-Wood Coal Company operated the Bailey-Wood mine from 1910 through 1927.
During the year ending June 30, 1914, the Bailey-Wood Coal Company operated the Bailey-Wood mine at Affinity, on the Winding Gulf branch of the Virginian Railway. A drift opening, the mine operated in the Beckley seam, of 5-foot thickness. The coal company employed 82 persons who produced about 400 tons of coal per day. Thomas Nichol was general nanager of the mining operation. Total production in 1914 for the Bailey Wood Coal Co. was 90,000 tons of coal.
