McCreery Rapids

This Class II rapid on the Upper New River Gorge whitewater rafting segment is located just upstream of the ghost town of Terry and is likely created by debris which has slipped off the surrounding canyon walls. The rapids are easily visible from the beach at the National Park Service's "Army Camp" Camping Area.


The photo at right shows the New River at an isolated beach area just downstream of Terry and McCreery Rapids.
