Mineral Wells, West Virginia
From West Virginia (WV) Cyclopedia
A rural community in Wood County near Interstate 77, Mineral Wells (map (http://www.wvamaps.com/index.php/?place=Mineralwells&state=wv&lat=39.1903&lon=-81.5322&elev=666&pop=1860)) was named for mineral springs that attracted visitors to the area in the late 1800s. The community was a fashionable summer vacation destination, and between 1885 and 1900 a large resort-hotel lodged many of the visitors who bathed in the springs, believing its waters to be curative. Many hotels are located in Mineral Wells today, though I-77 access, rather than springs, account for these.
