Mountain Creek Lodge
Mountain Creek Lodge, at Pipestem Resort State Park, is located deep in the Bluestone River Gorge and is accessible only by aerial tramway. The lodge is operated by the State of West Virginia and is open May through October. Lodging in any of its 30 guest rooms affords a balcony-view of the Bluestone River and access to amenities otherwise provided to park guests. A gourmet restaurant and a spacious meeting hall are also contained in the lodge. The entire lodge may be rented for groups and conventions.
The lodge takes its name from Mountain Creek, which enters the Bluestone River just upstream of the facility. The lodge was built in the 1960s in a style similar to that of 113-room McKeever Lodge, the larger of the two lodges at Pipestem. A gated park road provides emergency-access to the lodge from the north side of the river, though guests, their luggage, and provision for the restaurant are carried by tram car.
