A community in Preston County, Newburg, WV was incorporated in 1868. So named presumably because a "new" town was being established on the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad (http://www.wvrailroads.net/index.php/Baltimore_%26_Ohio_Railroad). Formerly known as "Stop 88," the location being 88 miles west of Cumberland, MD.
