Nitro, West Virginia

Nitro, WV (map (http://www.wvamaps.com/index.php/?place=Nitro&state=wv&lat=38.4147&lon=-81.8442&elev=590&pop=6824)), a community located in Kanawha and Putnam Counties, was incorporated in 1932. The town's name was suggested by the United States Government because of the establishment there during World War I of a large federal plant for the manufacture of explosives.
