The 57 mile long North Fork of the Hughes River rises in Ritchie County near the community of Mountain, WV, and flows generally southwestward, passing through Cairo, WV, and North Bend State Park, where it has been impounded as North Bend Lake. The park takes its name for the hairpin bend in the North Fork west of Harrisville, WV.
