Packs Mountain, in southern Fayette County, rises to 2,265 feet on the divide between the waters of Dunloup Creek, a tributary of New River, and Paint Creek, a tributary of Kanawha River. The town of Pax, WV, the Pack's Branch of Paint Creek, and Packs Mountain were named for a family hunters named "Pack" who camped on the west side of the mountain. Plum Orchard Lake forms on the northern face of the mountain.
