Paint Creek Mountain, or Paint Mountain, forms the border between Fayette County and Raleigh County in southern West Virginia. Paint Creek takes its name for trees thereon which were "painted" by Native Americans traversing the trail that followed the creek. Paint Creek Mountain is part of the Cumberland Mountains range of southern West Virginia and eastern Kentucky.
