Paradise, West Virginia

From West Virginia (WV) Cyclopedia

Paradise, in northern Putnam County, is an unincorporated rural community, or hamlet, though formerly a small village. The community was so named for "the perfectly apportioned amount of rain and sun that its rich vales receive" -- blue-ribbon portions that nourish several of West Virginia's most productive vegetable farms. Many beautiful farms follow WV-34, a popular scenic motor-route, through Paradise. Paradise is located between Red House, WV, on the lower Kanawha River, and Interstate 77 (I-77) near Kenna, WV. The community is situated along the summit of a ridge that divides the headwaters of Manila Creek, a tributary of the Pocatalico River, to the south, and Stumpy Run, a tributary of Sigman Fork of Eighteenmile Creek, to the north.
