Parkersburg and Stauton Turnpike

The Parkersburg and Stauton Turnpike was authorized in 1824, but not completed until 1847. The road began at Staunton, Virginia, and crossed the Allghenies by way of Pendleton, Pocahontas, Randolph, Lewis, Gilmer, Ritchie, and Wood counties to Parkersburg, WV, at the mouth of the Little Kanawha River.
