Pluto, West Virginia

Pluto is an unincorporated rural community, or hamlet, in eastern Raleigh County, located 21 miles east of Beckley, WV. Formerly also a post office, Pluto is located south of Interstate 64 (I-64) on White Oak Mountain. The hamlet is located in the upper waters of Pinch Creek, a tributary of Glade Creek. The origin of the community's name is uncertain. William Richmond, whose descendants populate the region, is buried at Pluto.
