Rich Mountain

On Rich Mountain, in Randolph County (http://www.wvexp.com/index.php/Randolph_County), about five miles west of Beverley, WV, on July 11, 1861, Federal foces defeated Confederate troops whose trenches may still be seen. Military reputations of General George B. McClellan, and of General W. S. Rosecrans were established by this victory.
