Ritchie Mines Wildlife Management Area

In Ritchie County, 13.5 m SW of Harrisville, WV

The Ritchie Mines Wildlife Management Area (WMA) protects 2,300 acres of rugged and wooded terrain along Mcfarlan Creek for the hunting of deer, grouse, turkey, raccon, and squirrel. Access to the northern area is by W.Va. Routes 17 and 17/4 at Mellin. The southern portion may be reached, seasonally, by W.Va. Routes 47 and 30 at Macfarlan. The remains of an historically significant asphalt mine are located on the area. Camping in the preserve is prohibited. Owned by WVDNR.
