Sandstone Falls State Park (historical)
From West Virginia (WV) Cyclopedia
A 71 acre park once existed at Sandstone, WV, (map (http://www.wvamaps.com/maps/index.php?place=Sandstone%20Falls%20State%20Park%20(historical)&state=WV&lon=-80.9025&lat=37.7597&pop=0&elev=0&county=Raleigh)) on the New River. The 1979 West Virginia Blue Book noted that the park was still in the development stages. The park was named for the Sandstone Falls of the New River, which were located within its boundaries. For many years the park area was largely undeveloped. In the 1980s, it was absorbed into the New River Gorge National River, and the National Park Service has since developed the former park.
