From West Virginia (WV) Cyclopedia

State Line Ridge forms part of the southwestern border of the State of West Virginia with that of the Commonwealth of Virginia. The state line follows the ridge along the southern edge of the drainage of the Tug Fork of the [[Big Sandy River]. The southwestern edge of West Virginia's McDowell County also follows the ridge.

Panther State Forest, is located just below the northwestern end of the ridge near Yeager, WV. The ridge is part of the Cumberland Mountains, a notably rugged range of the Appalachian Mountains.
