The West Virginia. Cyclopedia
The Teays Valley is a pre-glacial east-west valley that journeys between the valleys of the Ohio River and Kanawha River in western West Virginia. Once the valley of the the Teays River, it is no longer the route of a single stream, being drained instead by several lesser streams. Interstate 64 (I-64) and the mainline of the Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad follow the valley.
The Teays Valley today cradles a corridor of suburban development between the Charleston and Huntington metropolitan areas.
