Thread-The-Needle Rocks
From West Virginia (WV) Cyclopedia
Also known as Pick-a-Slot, this Class I rapids on the lower New River is known for its scenery rather than difficulty. Three large boulders, each the size of a small house, stand in the river here, the only case where such massive rocks have tumbled so far from the canyon wall. Rafters may choose routes through clear passages among the boulders. The Thread-the-Needle Rocks are located about halfway between Fayette Station Rapids and Miller's Folly Rapids and are not accessible by motor vehicle. They can be clearly observed from the window bays inside the Canyon Rim Visitor Center (http://www.wvforums.com/phpBB/modules.php?set_albumName=album26&op=modload&name=gallery&file=index&include=view_album.php).
