The Virginian Railway (VGN) built a short branch line, of 1.26  miles in length, named the Lampkin Branch, which ran from Junction Winding Gulf Branch at Fireco to Douglas Coal Company.

The Virginian Railway (VGN) built a short branch line, of 1.26 miles in length, named the Lampkin Branch, which ran from Junction Winding Gulf Branch at Fireco to Douglas Coal Company.

State mining records indicate that the Battleship mine at Fireco was operated by the Battleship Coal Company during 1919-20 and the Raleigh Fire Creek Coal Company from 1921-23.
